QUICK FACTS
Laying on the Costa del Sol, on the western shore of the Mediterranean see, Malaga has 2,800 years of history making it one of the oldest cities in the world.
She is Andalusia´s second largest city with a population of almost 600 millions. Various world famous artists like Pablo Picasso and actor Antonio Banderas were born in Málaga.
Its industry is based on tourism, technology and construction making it the fourth ranked city in terms of economical activity in the country (behind Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia)
MUST-SEES
The Jardin de la Concepcion is a 150-year-old botanic garden in Malaga, and the perfect place to go for a stroll. The garden includes over 1000 different types of plants, flowers and trees from over the whole world. Next to this, the garden also includes historical buildings, fountains, old statues and amazing views on the city!
Another popular sight is Alcazaba, a former Moorish fort built on a slope. This fort includes different cultural buildings such as the archaeological museum and a ruin of a Roman theatre. All the way on the top you will find the Castillo de Gibralfaro, this castle provides a magnificent view on the harbour and city of Malaga.
From Malaga you should definitely take day trips to other cities, such as Marbella, Mijas or Ronda and explore the white villages in the area!
TRIP-TIPS

GASTRONOMY

The most known and delicious ones are ‘Pescaíto Frito’, small fried fishes. But also ‘Espetos’, grilled sardines on a stick, are very popular. Other typical dishes from Malaga are ‘Porra Antequarana’ (a special kind of gazpacho), ‘Ensalada Malagueña’ (salad with potatoes, orange, onion and codfish), ‘Rabo de Torro’ (dish with oxtail which originally comes from Cordoba) and ‘Croquetas Caseras’ (stuffed croquettes).
