QUICK FACTS
Barcelona is the second biggest city in Spain and one of the most popular city trip destinations of Europe. Every year the city attracts around 7 million tourists, this mostly because the city offers so much worth to visit.
Did you know that the city also includes the busiest shopping street of Spain ‘Avenida Portal de l’Angel’, with an estimated 3500 visitors per hour?
MUST-SEES
Apart from being definitely a shopping city, Barcelona is also the Gaudí city. Antoni Gaudí is the most famous Catalonian in history thanks to the Sagrada Família. Other well-known works of the artist are Park Güell, Casa Mila and Casa Batlló all to be found spread over Barcelona.
Opposed to Madrid, Barcelona has its own beach making it a very attractive destination, this also due to the perfect weather conditions during almost the whole year.
TRIP-TIPS
The Montjuïc is a mountain in the South-West area of Barcelona. The mountain is full of beautiful sights, different museums and lots of pretty fountains.
A nice alternative to visit the Montjuïc is to use the Teleferic de Montjuïc. From the cabin in the cable line you will have the most fantastic views over the whole city and its harbour. The cable line brings you all the way up to the highest point of the mountain!
Besides the previously mentioned sights the mountain also includes the Castle de Montjuïc, which used to be a fort for years defending the city.
ACCOMMODATION
Barcelona offers a variety of options for any type of tourist when it comes to accommodation.
How about the luxury 5* Grand Hotel Central, located in an elegant building dating back to 1926 but has been completely renovated. The hotel has amazing views over the gothic areas and cathedral.
Or 4* Hotel Omm designed by the architect Julia Capella and the interior designers Sandra Tarruella and Isabel Lopez. It is a special design hotel with eye for every detail. From the pool on the roof of the hotel you can see Gaudi’s beautiful ‘La Pedrera’.
GASTRONOMY
In Barcelona it is impossible not to find a good restaurant for lunch or dinner. Whether you are in the mood for a night of tapas, a typical Catalonian restaurant, sushi in a trendy lounge bar, fish at the beach, you name it, they have it.
From cheap but tasty meals to fancy three course dinners by candle light or barbeques with views on the sea.
